Marcia is eventually caught as well and is locked in a room by herself. She runs out for help, and Casey tries to run too, but Patricia catches her and orders her to go to her room. Marcia seizes the opportunity to take a chair and strike Patricia in the back with it. He becomes upset when he accidentally cuts the sandwich crookedly, so he starts making another one. Patricia brings the girls into a dining room and starts to make another sandwich. Marcia is forced to remove her skirt and Casey takes off her flannel shirt. Patricia brings Casey and Marcia out for some food. Kevin then becomes Dennis as Karen mentions a 24th identity, "The Beast", whom Dennis says is indeed real. Karen mentions that Kevin has 23 distinct identities. She has noticed certain characteristics that Barry is displaying normally seen with other alters like Dennis, such as OCD. Karen doesn't believe she is really talking to Barry. In another session with Karen, Kevin returns as Barry. He orders Claire to take off her shirt because it's dirty. She hides in a locker, but her trembling breath is so loud that Dennis finds her. She finds an exit and starts running for help. Kevin reverts to Dennis as Claire starts crawling through the vents. Hedwig starts to come back, but Casey and Marcia hold the door back as Claire tries climbing out. Claire finds a hollow spot in the ceiling and starts breaking off the plaster. Hedwig leaves, and the girls start looking for a way out through the walls. Casey talks to Hedwig in an attempt to get out of there by telling him that Patricia and Dennis are still mad at him and that he's in trouble. He claims that Patricia and Dennis (the persona that captured the girls) are mad at him and that he is in trouble. The girls meet another identity, Hedwig, who has the mannerisms of a 9-year-old boy. She adds that people with DID can change their body chemistry with their thoughts. Karen talks about how some identities have capabilities that the other identities may not possess, as well as the way she can sense who has come to "the light" (which alter is in control). Karen is in a conference via Skype in which she discusses her patients, most of whom are suffering from DID (dissociative identity disorder), including Kevin. Patricia assures the girls that their captor knows why they are there and that he is not allowed to touch them. This alter is known as Patricia, a polite British woman. She approaches the door, but it is just Kevin wearing a skirt and high heels. Claire and Marcia call to the woman for help. They look through a crack in the door and see what appears to be a woman talking to their captor. The girls continue to try to find a way out. He meets with Karen regularly in this persona. This "alter" is a sketch artist with a heavy Boston accent. Barry is really one of Kevin's multiple personalities. Karen then receives an email from someone named Barry, saying they need to speak, and it is urgent. Karen Fletcher (Betty Buckley), is watching a news report on the three missing girls and how Claire's father woke up to find the girls and his car gone. Uncle John talks about hunting a deer but being distracted by the buck. They are both hunters, and they teach Casey how to hunt. We see a flashback in which a 5-year-old Casey (here played by Izzie Leigh Coffey) is with her father (Sebastian Arcelus) and her Uncle John (Brad William Henke). Casey is calm and says they need to find out what they are there for before they make any sort of move. Claire says they need to fight back together to get out. She tells the others that Kevin wanted her to dance for him. After a brief moment, Marcia runs back into the room after she peed herself. He pulls Marcia out and takes her outside. Kevin brings the girls into a windowless room in an unknown location. Casey slowly attempts to open the door to get out, but Kevin gets her too. Claire thinks he just got in the wrong car by mistake, but Kevin puts on a face mask and sprays the girls with some kind of toxin that knocks them out. Moments later, the person, a man named Kevin (James McAvoy), gets into the car. Claire's dad is approached by an unseen person. The girls leave along with another friend, Marcia (Jessica Sula). She's about to take the bus, but Claire's dad insists that she go home with them. Casey calls for a ride home but is told the car broke down. Her classmate Casey (Anya Taylor-Joy) was invited out of pity, as Claire tells her father (Neal Huff) that Casey frequently gets into trouble with teachers and gets sent to detention. The film opens with a birthday party for Claire (Haley Lu Richardson).

I feel the same way about Affinity designer. This really wasn’t the case.Īs I mentioned in my review of Procreate, I find it far easier to draw directly onto a screen rather than drawing on a tablet to translate to desktop. I’m by no means the most experienced and was a little apprehensive about having to relearn how to navigate everything. If you’ve only ever been an Adobe user, I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised at how easy the transition is between Illustrator and Affinity Designer iPad. However, whilst you can import, you can’t export in an AI format (but more on that later). The selection of brushes is also great, there’s a vast number to choose from - whether that’s for sketching or adding texturing to your work.Īffinity Designer offers a vast range of export options - whether that’s web or print, or exporting single layers and slices. This is great for mapping out ideas - something I would have usually done in Procreate, hand drawn or made up in Photoshop first. Pixel persona - Raster based editing and tools. All your necessary tools for vector based drawing. Vector persona - Does what it says on the tin. Others may feel differently, but I personally didn’t notice anything missing from my normal workflow.Īnother really brilliant feature is the ability to switch between personas, allowing you to switch between vector and raster modes within the app, and eliminating the need to switch between other apps and software if your process requires it. However Affinity Designer somehow manages to give users near enough the same options the desktop version would. With iPad you would typically expect slimmed down versions of software just purely to be able to run properly. In contrast to Adobe slimming down, one of the most impressive things about Affinity designer for iPad is how surprisingly extensive the tools are. Although the rest are planned to come later, that still leaves illustrator and indesign nowhere to be seen. Whilst Adobe are finally fulfilling the need for Photoshop on iPad, the first phase will only have a smaller set of core features. 5/21/2023 0 Comments Insert pivot point stykzIf you have any questions about that, you can let me know. Standing Rock did not stop the pipeline, but it really impacted a generation. And so indirect consequences are something I find really exciting. And of course, you all know her now as Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, the person who introduced the Green New Deal. And as it happens, she decided to run for Congress. And one of them was so influenced by what she experienced there - the commitment, the hope - that she went home and changed her life and changed from really feeling despairing and powerless to feeling she could do something. And so in the middle of that incredible gathering of thousands of people at Standing Rock, a station wagon set out from New York City with a bunch of young friends in it. For so many non-Native people, it was a crash course in understanding both climate change and oil pipeline politics, and Indigenous rights in history. Standing Rock became this huge gathering of Native and non-Native people. Solnit: Oh, I feel like this is one of the great lesser-known stories of the last 15 years or more. Tell me about this station wagon full of folks from New York who arrived at that protest. And there’s a great story about the young people who showed up at Standing Rock in 2016 to protest a pipeline. Scott: One thing you talk about is that hope takes a long time to become success or victory. Hope, for me, is facing the uncertainty of the future, the fact that it’s being created by what we do or fail to do in the present and really engaging actively with what those possibilities are. Solnit: For me, optimism is really confidence that everything will be fine, and if everything is going to be fine, nothing is required of us. And I’m wondering why that distinction is important and why is hope different. Scott: As you say at the outset of the book, hope is not the same thing as optimism. And so this book is really a toolbox to equip people with the ideas, the hope, the confidence, the context, to, you know, go forth and do something. Rebecca Solnit: We do see it as for everyone, and we’ve had people say for experts who are burned out and exhausted that the book can be a kind of refresh or a reminder of, you know, what’s possible, why we care, what we’ve done so far. An edited transcript of their conversation follows.Īmy Scott: You and your co-editor, Thelma Young Lutunatabua, have a very specific audience in mind for this book. Rebecca Solnit is co-editor and one of the authors of “ Not Too Late: Changing the Climate Story from Despair to Possibility.” The well-known author joined Marketplace’s Amy Scott to talk about the power of hope and why we shouldn’t view climate change as a battle that we’ve already lost. It’s scary stuff, and it can make you feel a bit hopeless.īut a new book proposes that we reframe the conversation around climate change to one of possibility rather than despair. And research shows that approximately 150 million people are living on land that will be below the high-tide line by 2050. has suffered a billion-dollar natural disaster every 18 days on average 40 years ago, one occurred every 82 days. Current climate projections predict a 2.7-degree Celsius increase in global temperature by the end of the century, which is well above the 1.5-degree cap agreed to at the Paris climate accord of 2015. 5/21/2023 0 Comments Worms 2 armageddon wikipediaTeam17 initially partnered with Sold Out Sales & Marketing in November 2017 to release physical retail copies by 2018. I really loved the stunts she did with the motorcycle. She was already a major badass in the first film, but she took things to a whole different level in this movie. That being said, Jill is such an absolute badass in this film that I’m willing to partially overlook it. Here’s the thing, when you adapt a story from video games, you are not necessarily obligated to duplicate the costumes in exact detail and I think the creators of this movie forgot that. Regarding Jill Valentine…I could see in her first five minutes onscreen why people took issue with her appearance and I completely agree with all the criticisms. It’s so ridiculous, I couldn’t help but laugh. Remember when i reviewed the first movie and I wondered aloud if this was a universe where zombie films didn’t exist? Well, I think this movie confirms that zombie movies aren’t a thing in the world of Resident Evil because there’s a funny scene where the Raccoon City PD are hauling in handcuffed zombies in the police station and treating them like regular criminals. The montage that shows the early moments of the zombie apocalypse actually has a moment that had me laughing out loud. I really like how the film actually goes back and shows how the T-virus got loose in the city to begin with, with the meddling Umbrella executives making the situation worse by forcing the Hive open, allowing the surviving zombies (and the virus) to get loose. With the first film almost completely contained in the Hive, the sequel moving the action to Raccoon City makes perfect sense. But that decline clearly hasn’t started yet because Resident Evil: Apocalypse, dare I say it, is a superior film to the original Resident Evil (the lack of questionable CGI is a big mark in its favor). I think this film surprised me even more than the first Resident Evil movie, because it was my understanding that the films decreased in quality as time went on. This movie picks up almost immediately after the first film leaves off, with Alice waking up in an abandoned hospital and the T-virus raging throughout Raccoon City as the zombie apocalypse begins. Why not make it 2 hours and add a little more in? Anyways besides that i thought the movie was a blast to watch and i am definitely going back to the theater sometime this weekend to see it again. After unexpectedly enjoying Resident Evil, I pushed on and continued with the sequel Resident Evil: Apocalypse. Your not really given time to hear a little out each one and kind of get each one to have there own amount of screen time due to the lack of time the film was working with, I mean come on. though there was one setback, There wasn't much time for any info or background on important members of the convoy, all you know is they are there. I'm guessing if your on this page you have read the plot so Anyways back to the review. to try to find a place of safety from the infection and all the dangers that come with it. An apocalyptic world with few human survivors banding together, fighting, traveling etc. Perfect combo! The story is beyond amazing, Very creepy in a way yet totally awesome for the people in the theater watching it all play out. It contains The plot and suspense the first film had and the action the second film had. After the second movie i was ready for this one to be cheap and boring. 5/20/2023 0 Comments Fashion love affairMy husband Joe Coffey who is the Co founder and CEO of our Little Joe Woman brand and I booked our first buying appointment with Browns Boutique on South Molton Street in London. I started with six silk slip dresses and six silk camisoles and six colours. They were easy to pack, were perfect with that inner-wear as outer-wear look that was just starting to happen, they made me feel good to either sleep in or wear out, they could very easily be layered and worked well with other items in my wardrobe. Pieces I needed for myself and couldn’t seem to find in stores at the time and worked with my hectic modelling travel schedule. My first designs were very simple slip dresses and camisoles. I’d walked the international runways in Paris, Milan, London and New York season upon season for every major designer you can name - Karl Largerfeld, Chanel, Azzedine Alaia, Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren, Marc Jacobs, Valentino, Gianni Versace, Armani, Chloe and John Galliano to name a few and shot for all the prestigious international fashion magazines - Vogue, Harpers Bazaar, Elle, Marie-Claire and others. Having worked with all the major fashion designers, photographers, magazine editors, stylists, models, hair stylists and makeup artists as a model for so many years, I began to feel the need to express my learnings, fashion thoughts and feelings creatively. From a young age at around thirteen years old, I remember saving my pocket money and loving to go into Chelsea Girl in London to buy my clothing. I was extremely fortunate to enjoy a very successful 24 year career as a model in the late 80s and 90s in which I developed an enormous interest in fashion and became to appreciate quality, luxury and the power of how beautiful clothing make a woman feel. |
